Thomas Lythgoe

Thomas Lythgoe was born about 1804, in Liverpool, Lancashire. He became a wheelwright.

He married Elizabeth, who was born about 1803, in Morton, Cheshire.

They had a daughter called Alice, born in approx. 1830, who later married into the Huxley family.

In 1851 they were living at 45 Wellington Terrace, Toxteth Park. Thomas was aged 46 (born West Derby), Elizabeth aged 48 (born Birston- presumably Bidston, Cheshire), Elizabeth aged 17 (born Birkenhead), Benjamin aged 15 (born Birkenhead, Cheshire), William aged 12 (born Birkenhead, Cheshire), John aged 8 (born Birkenhead, Cheshire) and Ann aged 6 (Birkenhead, Cheshire).

On the 1861 census, Elizabeth and Thomas were living at 5 Wellington Terrace, High Park Street, Toxteth Park. Thomas was a wheelwright, aged 59 years, and Elizabeth was a House Keeper, aged 58 years. They had four children living with them: 1) Benjamin?, aged 25 years, who was shipwright, who had been born in Birkenhead, Cheshire 2) William, aged 22 years, who was an apprentice shipwright, who had also been born in Birkenhead, Cheshire 3) John, aged 18, an apprentice shipwright, born in Birkenhead, Cheshire 4) Jane, aged 16 years, a servant, born in Birkenhead, Cheshire.

Living next door to them, on the 1861 census, at 6 Wellington Terrace (with the Huxley family) was Thomas Lythgoe aged 29 years, who was a carter, born in Liverpool. He was living with his wife, Sarah, aged 30 years, born in Liverpool, and their children: 1) Henry, aged 9 years, who was a scholar, and born in Liverpool 2) Sarah, aged 6 years, who was a scholar, and born in Liverpool 3) Elizabeth, aged 3 years, born in Liverpool.

Benjamin Lythgoe, Shipsmith, died aged 77 years in 1914. At the time of his death, he was living at 29 Toxteth Grove, Toxteth Park.

John Lythgoe died aged 85 years in 1927. His address was 17 Lucerne Street, Toxteth Park.

William Lythgoe died aged aged 85 years in 1924. He was living at 12 Hadassah Grove, Toxteth Park.

Thomas Lythgoe (born circa. 1804) died aged 80 in 1884, At the time of his death was living at 9 Wellington Road, Toxteth Park.

Elizabeth Lythgoe died 5 years earlier in approx. 1879 and was of the same address.

They are both buried in Toxteth Park Cemetery.
